The beautiful butterfly Koi was Tyrel’s inspiration for this bronze fountain. It moves through the water, seemingly, in a much more graceful way than it’s relatives. The challenge in bringing this typically Eastern icon into the West was certainly difficult but worthwhile. Tyrel knew the solution lay within its fins and forehead. Filigree was all he could think of. The fluer-de-lis brings a stately western touch without overpowering the sculpture. Due to the fact that the sculpture is not in water; the fins play out as the opposing roles of water; crashing and flowing.
