This sculpture a sort of self portrait for Tyrel Johnson. In his earlier years he became discouraged due to a lack of successes with his art. He soon realized that the only way to elevate his artwork was to constantly create work regardless of whether he would cast them or destroy them to start the next piece. The blindfold represents his early ignorance of the solution lying quite literally in his hands. The owl represents the knowledge that he can
create beauty and continuing to do so has to be his main focus.
