“Without a doubt, this is one of my most cherished paintings out of everything I have created up to this day. I feel very personally connected to it — the colors and the strokes feel true to me. The expressions in the gazes of both the horse and the caretaker carry a specific meaning. In fact, hidden somewhere in the painting is a “45” — a tribute to myself, marking the 45 years I had just turned this past April, around the time I painted Cooling Off.
